ESS Utumishi is an online platform created for Tanzania’s public servants by the “President’s Office Public Service Management and Good Governance of the United Republic of Tanzania.” It allows government employees to update their personal information online, eliminating the need to visit administrative offices.

Which Documents Are Required to Register on ESS Utumishi?

To successfully register on the ESS Utumishi Portal, you will need the following three documents:

National ID Card Number
Check Number
Email Address

These documents are necessary to verify your identity. Once you have them ready, you can begin the registration process. If you already have an account, simply log in directly to your ESS portal.

How to Register on ESS Utumishi?

Once you have gathered the required documents, you can register your account on the ESS Utumishi portal by following these five simple steps:

Go to the ESS Utumishi Portal

First, begin the registration process by clicking this link: ess.utumishi.go.tz/sessions/signin. This will take you to the ESS Portal.

Navigate to the Registration Section

A webpage will now appear on your screen. Click the “Click here to Register” button located at the bottom right corner of the page.

Enter Your Check Number and ID

Once you click, the ESS registration form will appear on your screen. You will need to provide the following information:

Check Number: Enter your check number in the upper section of the page. This number is provided by your employer.
National ID Number: Enter your 20-digit National ID number in the next section.
Email Address: Enter your valid, currently active email address in the following section.
Email Confirmation: In the final section, re-enter your email address for confirmation.

Register Your Account

After entering all the required details, double-check the information to minimize the risk of any mistakes. Finally, click the “Sign Up” button to complete your registration process on the ESS Utumishi Portal.

Receive an Email

After clicking the button, you will receive an email from ESS Utumishi with your username and password details. These credentials are needed for logging into your account.
